In total, the company has reportedly rewarded 110,235 users. It is estimated that airdropped tokens hold a value of around $200–$260 million, based on the price of APT, at the time of writing.
The company highlighted that rewards can be claimed using the official Aptos Community page. Moreover, it added that more information will be shared in the emails sent directly to eligible users. The company completed its Twitter thread by stating:
There are no other airdrops or giveaways of Aptos tokens. Exercise extreme caution and only trust official sources and channels. Aptos tokens can only be claimed via the official Aptos Community page with information provided in your eligibility email.
Although launched only on October 17th, Aptos has received quite negative feedback from the crypto community. The company was castigated for its opaque tokenomics, lack of communication, and lower-than-promised transaction throughput.
The community was not happy about tokenomics revealing that the majority of tokens (49%) were allocated to developers and investors. Many crypto community members speculated that it proves that the network was created for venture capital.
In response to the claims, Aptos co-founder Mo Shaikh used Twitter to state that transaction throughput is expected to increase when more applications are added to the blockchain.
At the time of writing, APT retails for $7.65.
